My name is Bill and I specialize in bike customizations in the Washington, DC metro area. Whether your goal is a custom geometry frame/fork, adding miscellaneous enhancements to an existing bike, or saving a great bike from the scrapheap – I can help you.
I’ve been into bikes since I was a kid jumping dirt ramps on my BMX. My bicycle became my means of transportation in college. For the last 25 years, I’ve participated in local races, rides, and mini tours to stay and shape and to enjoy the great outdoors with friends. Biking is a huge part of my life.
The first thing most people notice about me is my height: I’m 6’ 8” inches tall. It is challenging to find an off-the-shelf bike that fits (as likely the case for most people over 6’4”). That’s one of the reasons I started building bikes. Try this: perform a quick internet search for “fork with a 400 mm steer tube” or “69cm frame” (let me know if you find any results worth clicking).
I am mechanically inclined and I love to create things. I don’t do this full-time; this is my passion, my hobby, and my way of destressing. It brings me joy. All of my work is done brazing with the torch, I don’t TIG currently. Maybe one day, but for now I am mastering the technique that bicycles have been built with from their inception.
If you need a job done I will set a clear time expectation for completion and I will communicate the status excessively. I’ve bought custom frames before and find it extremely frustrating when given the runaround on delivery or go months without an update.
